by Collective Profile
ANAU MYNAU is a Biennale of Young Kazakh Art. The project is aimed at promoting contemporary Kazakh art, supporting emerging artists, and showcasing the intellectual and cultural potential of the region.
The Biennale serves as a unique platform that brings together youth creativity and values connected to Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage, stimulating interest in visual arts. The works selected by an international curatorial board reflect each artist’s vision of contemporary reality. Fresh ideas, unconventional techniques, and profound reflections on the present coexist within the exhibition.
Participants explore a wide range of themes — from personal experience and cultural roots to global issues facing society today.
The exhibition features approximately 70 paintings and graphic works by 35 young artists aged 20 to 35 from various regions of Kazakhstan.
In some exhibition projects, this label is used to designate a group of artists presented within collective and complex exhibitions. This format is applied when a project is based on the interaction of multiple artistic practices and does not single out one central author. The precise list of participants and their individual biographies is provided in the descriptions of specific projects, particularly in exhibitions involving a large number of artists. The use of a collective designation ensures structural clarity in publications and emphasizes the concept of a group artistic statement.
