The SHAPE OF FEELING exhibition is part of the international campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence", supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project combines contemporary visual and theatrical arts with a global dialogue in the fight against one of the most pressing issues of our time. Its goal is to promote ideas of solidarity, spiritual resistance, and hope for a new world without violence.
The exhibition centers on the work of two contemporary artists from the Netherlands living in Kazakhstan: Monique Haenen and Gaby Gusek. The artists work in different media, but regardless of whether it is a rare Chinese lacquer technique or an original painting method, their works are bright, decorative, and full of symbolism. But first and foremost, their works serve as a metaphor for female power and a manifestation of voice.
The opening featured the premiere of the theatrical performance “Monologues of the Great Women of Ancient History.” It emphasizes the main goal of the project: the voice of women, sounding through the centuries, cannot be silenced.
